Carnival- demon/fae
My fire burned with hatred, the heat from my fangs searing my tongue as I attempted to control my fury. A cage, A CAGE! Like I’m some mere animal! Some freak of nature for others to view to make themselves feel better about their own damn lives!
Hands I don’t recognize grip at my bars, and I have to remind myself that those are mine now. Frustration coils in my chest, hot and heavy.
“Monkey” a man spits at me, and I curse the rage, the urge to show him just what an animal I can be if he just… steps closer. It seems Lady Luck has finally allowed me a victory, because the dumb bastard moves to grasp at the bars, his face almost nose to nose with my own, a smirk on his lips as he chose the wrong beast to taunt. If they wanted an animal I could give them one.
I lurch forward, sinking my fangs into his cheek, my teeth dripping flames from them, his screams and and blood in my mouth sending me deeper into my bloodthirsty frenzy.
I don’t remember who ripped me off him, but his flesh and blood between my teeth were melting from his face.
His shrill screams made me giggle in delight, finally, I had gotten some sort of revenge. A small sliver of revenge.
It didn’t last long but I longed to do it again. He was rushed away and I was promptly whipped.
The searing pain in my lack didn’t do much to elevate my delight.
A body that was vaguely mine, trapped in a cage like a damned animal.
He didn’t do this to me, but his curse was enough to drive me towards the edge I had so feverly fought against.
Why was I so against becoming the monster they wanted?
I truly couldn’t remember.
My mind felt empty, at peace again.
So I did it again, and again, and again. Until I couldn’t be shown to the public anymore.
What a shame right?
I missed the screams, that’s when I started to realize that my humanity was gone.
Dead and buried like my old body.
This is who I was now.
And I didn’t really want to go back anymore.
“Is your plan to lose me more money?” My owner asked, his voice as cool and collected as normal.
He bought me from a witch from what I gathered. Since he likes to curse her name when I was disobedient.
Never the less, it didn’t matter anymore who made me like this.
I merely smiled to him, unsure if I could even speak anymore or it would be pure growls.
“You think you’re quite clever huh? It’s a shame your work is for vain, I’ve been offered money to watch you rip apart other freaks” he smirked, his smile dropping when I cocked my head, not truly understanding what he was saying.
“It seems you’re not in your right mind anymore, I suppose you never were huh?” He laughs, throwing a slab of raw meat at my cage and walks out.
I chew the meat enthusiastically, realizing after a few days that this means I get to eat better.
